Why the scan itself stays free
A scoring tool people have to pay to try is a scoring tool nobody links to. The free scan is how CiteSnap is found and how the report cards spread, so gating it would cost more than it earns. Pro is priced for the second problem instead: you fixed the page, it scored 88, and three months later a plugin update added a noindex tag and nobody noticed.
Your API key never reaches our servers
The AI checks — semantic extractability, entity clarity and query fan-out — run on a key you paste into the extension. It is stored in your browser’s local extension storage, the requests go directly from your browser to OpenAI, Anthropic or Perplexity, and the key is never sent to a CiteSnap endpoint or written to a log. That also means those checks cost us nothing, which is why they are included rather than metered.

Is CiteSnap free?
Yes. Single-page scans in the extension and on the web, all four GEO tools, the shareable report card and the in-editor draft score are free with no account and no card. Pro adds persistence and depth: saved history, bulk audits, monitoring and inline fixes.
How much does CiteSnap Pro cost?
Pro is $12 per month, or $99 per year — about two months free. Both plans include every Pro feature; the only difference is the billing period.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for, then the account returns to free. Nothing is deleted: your saved scans stay readable, they just stop accumulating new ones.
Do the AI checks cost extra?
No, but they run on your own API key. You paste an OpenAI, Anthropic or Perplexity key into the extension, it is stored locally in your browser, and the calls go straight from your browser to that provider. CiteSnap never receives the key and never sees the bill.
Is there a free trial of Pro?
The free tier is the trial, and it does not expire. Every scoring check that Pro runs is the same check the free scan runs — Pro stores the results, watches them over time and audits a whole sitemap at once.
